The 3rd International Meetings Promotion Agenda
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced “The 3rd International Meetings Promotion Agenda” on January 2nd which aims to generate 1.45 billion dollars worth of foreign revenues by 2018 through promotion of international meeting industry.


According to the agenda, the ministry has in plan, 4 different strategies for the coming 5 years: 1) building healthy international meeting industry, 2) creating constant demand of international meetings, 3) training professional manpower and strengthening the institutional base of the industry, 4) promoting convergence of international meeting industry.


Under this agenda, the ministry intends to raise the number of international meetings in Korea from 563 in 2012 to 790 while generating foreign currency acquisition of 1.45 billion from 620 million by year 2018.


The ministry also added “International Meetings Service” article to Tourism Promotion Act for further systematically support of the international meetings service industry.


The Ministry of Culture. Sports and Tourism considers international meetings industry as a high value-added industry since it has a great ripple effect to overall tour industry and the domestic economy.
