The Korea Tourism Organization continues its efforts to order to attract more cruise tourists this year. The cruise market in Korea passed the 2.2 million passengers in 2016 after exceeding one million visitors to cruise ships in 2015.
The Korea Tourism Organization is actively promoting the cruising as a way of visiting Korea in conjunction with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the local municipalities of the cruise ports.
Representatives from Incheon Metropolitan City, Incheon Tourism Organization and Incheon Port Authority will participate in the ‘London Cruise Show’ from February 17 to 18. In addition, 12 domestic agencies will participate in the Seatrade Cruise Global event, the world’s largest cruise expo in Miami, USA, on March 5-8.
In June, the KTO will invite overseas cruise companies and travel agencies to Seoul to participate in ‘Korea Cruise Travel Mart’ where they will be able to meet and interact with over 200 people from relevant local governments, agencies and industries.
KTO is also preparing attractions and activities both at home and abroad, including the development of Korean themed cruises such as Korean Wave, medical care, and beauty.
According to Cruise Industry News, cruising in the Asia Pacific region is now the world’s second largest market after the Caribbean, replacing the Mediterranean.
