Korean culture wave across Scandinavia

The Korea Tourism Organization’s (KTO) London Office is attending the Korean Culture Festival in Stockholm on 12th August. The festival is hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Sweden and the KTO London office and other Korean organizations will be attending to help promote Korean culture. The event will attract 20,000 people through a comprehensive programme including performances, cultural experiences and promotional events from 12pm until 9pm in the Kungstradgarden, in the heart of Stockholm.

The CoSport, the Swedish Authorised Ticket Reseller (ATR) for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics and Paralympics and other local tour operators will join the KTO in a Korea Tourism Zone promoting the upcoming Winter Games and providing travel advice to the visitors. A personalised calligraphy service will offer the visitors their names written in Korean.

A wide range of performances including Samulnori (Korean traditional percussion instruments), Taekwondo demonstration, Korean traditional dance and K-pop from famous girl band “Highteen” will entertain the audience. Visitors can also enjoy a craft experience, hanbok trial and cooking class. There will be stands where visitors can try Korean food and purchase Korean cosmetics and K-pop goods.

With only 6 months until the upcoming Winter Olympic Games, the festival will be a great opportunity not only to attract potential tourists from Scandinavia to Korea but also to raise awareness of the Games in Sweden and other Nordic countries who are the strong Winter sports nations.
