Korea Sale FESTA Welcomes Visitors and Showcases Expanding MICE Capabilities
The shopping and tourism campaign Korea Sales FESTA seeks to boost tourist arrivals and showcase the country’s rapidly growing tourism infrastructure and services. Jointly hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the campaign is running from September 29 to October 31. An expansion on last year’s Korea Grand Sale, the Korea Sale FESTA will include large cultural festivals, shopping discounts, hallyu entertainment, and more for international visitors to Korea.
Throughout the month of October, the entire Korean peninsula will be abuzz with festivals, showcasing the nation’s great ability and growing capacity for holding a wide variety of large-scale events. There will be a total of 55 major festivals taking place in October, including the 2016 Gwangju Biennale, 21stBusan International Film Festival, K-pop showcase M Countdown in Jeju, Baekjae Cultural Festival, Suncheon Environment Art Festival & Symposium, Jeonju International Sori Festival, and more
A boost in professional convention and event infrastructure throughout the peninsula has made it easier to host so many large festivals at once, and has also contributed to Korea’s growing capacity for hosting international MICE events. According to the latest report by the Union of International Associations, Korea recently ranked 2nd the world for number of international congresses hosted in 2015. Korea’s capital Seoul ranked 3rd and its second largest city Busan ranked 11thoverall for number of international congresses hosted.
Now that Korea’s growing MICE infrastructure has played a key role in boosting its competitiveness as a business events destination, more efforts are also being made to boost MICE services and capabilities.
The Korea Grand Sale (until October 31st) is the main component of the Korea Sale FESTA, and is a great opportunity for business visitors in Korea to take advantage of many discounts, services, and attractions. Major duty free stores as well as department stores are all offering special deals throughout the month of October. Deals are also being offered for non-shopping businesses, and discounts can be found for airfare, accommodation, cosmetics, healthcare products, performances, and even tourist attractions.
