[Emma’s Story] Gamcheon Culture Village

Today my friends and I took a trip to Gamcheon Culture Village!
It’s a must see for anyone travelling Busan and it’s filled with great photo opportunities along with some cute cafes and souvenir shops!

Gamchoen can be pretty difficult to find so I’ll explain the best way we found to get there. First you’re going to want to head to Toseong Station on Line 1. From exit 6 you turn right and walk past the hospital to the first bus stop. You can get either bus #1, #2 or #2.2. The journey to the entrance of the village takes about 15 minutes but as the village is situated on the side of a mountain, it’s a bumpy ride!

Gamcheon is surrounded by residential areas so I suggest going a little early and having a wander round the local markets and food stalls!

As previously mentioned, the village is situated on the side of a mountain so be prepared for lots of stairs and hills! These stairs are 146 high and have been named “The Stairs to the Stars” because it is said that in the past, people would pass out or see stars whilst walking up them.

The view when you reach the top of the village is definitely worth it! If you are able to make it to the top don’t let the climbing put you off!

Some of the more famous photo opportunities might be a bit hard to reach so I suggest going to those early and securing a spot in line! This was the queue surrounding the “Little Prince” statue.

I’m sure you’ve all heard of the “Locks of Love” at N Seoul Tower, well, Gamcheon has it’s own! Here you can purchase a lock with your loved one, friend or family member, write your names and attach it to the fence at the top of the shop!
